So I have no idea where the phrase "This is why we can't have nice things" came about. I've googled it. I've looked in history books. I've asked God. All of these sources came up short (except God. He just laughed) Anyway...I guess this post now has no real context since the point was to explain the origins of the phrase, but I don't know the origins...sooooo....what's up?
Side note: I don't actually care where the origins came from. I frackin' love this saying. I use it everywhere. At work. At school. At church. At other work. At the store. At baptisms. At funerals. And once during the VMA's. Basically, it's a versatile phrase that lightens tense moods. Or just pisses people off. Either way, I'm golden.
Side Note....Again: Someone once questioned me why we can't have nice things. I was stunned. Nobody before has questioned this, and now this mortal dares?!?!? Anyway, I was silenced for a few seconds before I retorted with: You're why we can't have nice things. End of discussion right there. That also ended my friendship...
